About our hog roast for events in Berrylands

A hog roast is one of the most popular stalls at events in Berrylands. We cook on site and carve to order, so visitors get hot food fast. Typical bookings include car and steam shows and festivals, with a vegan burger or sausage, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers.

In Berrylands, community events include street parties, school fairs and markets. Public spaces generally need council permission, and the roaster needs a pitch with clearance. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Looking after everyone

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Plan separately for halal if needed
  • Balance the food line-up
  • Show allergens at the stall
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if you expect coeliac visitors

Name an organiser to meet us, especially for big events.

Coleslaw goes well with pork rolls.

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Berrylands

Do you trade at school fairs around Berrylands?

Yes, if the school is happy for a hog roast on site. Send us the date and where the roaster would go.

What if our house in Berrylands has no side access?

Often, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Do you trade at school events?

School fairs suit a hog roast. Check vehicle access with the school.

Do you clear up?

We pack everything away after service, so you’re not left with the mess.

When should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But it’s always worth asking: send us your details through our quote form.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

How much room do you need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, and a way to wheel everything in. A photo helps.

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

How we price a hog roast for your event

Each price is built from:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Site access
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Which meats and sides you choose

Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, we will need:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Rules from the venue or landowner

Numbers not final yet? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, then confirm closer to the date. Fill in our quote form.

Full catering or machine hire?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Room for a queue that does not block paths
  • Clearance from other stalls and tents
  • Access for our vehicle to the pitch

As a London location, Berrylands is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a volunteer-run kitchen, a professional hog roast frees up your helpers. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why Berrylands hosts choose us

  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

What happens on the day

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Summer events in Berrylands have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. On the day we set up under cover and get the hog on.
  4. We serve to order through the event.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Give us a contact number for the day
