DIY versus a catered hog roast
DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is usually easier.
Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with a barbecue stall, carving is faster than grilling to order. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.
Why us?
- A clear quote with everything listed
- Choices for people who don’t eat pork
- Planned to your running order

How it works
On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. At midsummer, events in Little Venice stay light until about 9:20pm, which helps evening trading. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.
- Organisers send us the date, site, numbers and how food will be paid for.
- We check the pitch and any paperwork, then quote.
- We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
- We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
- We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.
Before we arrive
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
- Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
