Hog roast for events near Nashes Green

Every event handles food differently: a package or a pay-as-you-go stall. Let us know what you have in mind. Whether it’s car shows and rallies and small festivals, we’ll put together a menu of rotisserie chicken, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers for your visitors.

At a field event near Nashes Green, power and water may be limited; we cook on gas, so we do not need mains power. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Catered or do it yourself?

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Balance the food line-up
  • Halal isn’t offered
  • Make the stall easy to find
  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian

If the ground is soft, we will need a firm route on and off, particularly in wet weather.

Add rotisserie chicken for visitors who don’t eat pork.

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Travel to Nashes Green
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Whether you want china

A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • Roughly how many people
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • The venue or postcode
  • What the outdoor space is like

To get a quote, just tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.

How it works

The secret is time: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin crisps into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. In late May, sunset in Nashes Green is about 8:55pm, while at midsummer it’s about 9:25pm. Evening festivals need lighting by the stall after that.

  1. Start with the date and numbers.
  2. We discuss the package or stall options.
  3. We arrive and set up under cover.
  4. We serve rolls quickly.
  5. We tidy the pitch.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
