A hog roast near Streatley

About our hog roast for events in Streatley

For organisers, one reliable hot-food trader makes life easier. We bring everything, roast on the pitch and leave it clean. For country shows and fundraising events, we can cook rotisserie chicken, crackling and apple sauce and more.

At a field event near Streatley, power and water may be limited; the roaster runs on gas, so that’s fine. The carving happens right in front of your visitors, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

How to compare hog roast caterers

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

Questions from Streatley

Is Streatley too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

How far is Streatley from London?

Roughly 45 miles from the centre of London.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

What do you need from the organiser?

Just a pitch, access and any agreed paperwork. Everything else comes with us.

Can you come to a PTA fair?

School fairs suit a hog roast. Ask the school about vehicles on site.

What if it rains?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

What do people get?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

Where does the hog roast go?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a picture if you are unsure.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, which keeps it hot and moist.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some visitors will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Planning the cooking spot

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Any paperwork the organisers need
  • A level pitch with firm ground
  • Permission for cooking on the site

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we serve

  • Crackling
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Coleslaw

Diets, allergies and alternatives

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Put the menu and allergen information on display
  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
  • Make the stall easy to find
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten

We get to the pitch early, so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.

Add coleslaw.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking doesn’t depend on mains power. Summer events in Streatley have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Start with the date and numbers.
  2. We agree how food will be paid for.
  3. We arrive and set up under cover.
  4. Carving keeps the queue moving.
  5. We tidy the pitch.
