Hog roast hire in Balham, slow-roasted on site

A whole hog, roasted for hours and carved in front of your guests: that is hog roast hire in Balham. Rolls, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling come as standard, and you can add sides and other meats. Whether it is festive gatherings and club events and presentations, we’ll put together a menu of hog roast rolls, new potatoes and salads and more.

Around Balham, most London bookings are in back gardens, yards, school grounds and car parks. Many terraced houses have no side access, so tell us whether there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use, and a picture helps us check. We plan the timings around your day, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

The process

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Light matters for a long roast: in Balham, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

Balham: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Balham?

Balham has its own station: Balham station.

Can you cater after a service at Church of St Mary?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

When do you start roasting?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

How far ahead should we book?

Popular dates go early. But it is always worth asking: send us your details through our quote form.

Is crockery included?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Do you cover Balham?

Yes, Balham is in our area. Tell us the venue or postcode and we’ll check the date.

What if things run late?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

What a hog roast costs

The price comes down to:

  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Whether you want china
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • How long the roast and service take

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

What to tell us

To get the best quote, send us:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Your menu choices
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Rules from the venue or landowner

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your event: send us your details through our quote form.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

We will agree a contact for the day, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal.

Working with your venue

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

What the cooking area needs

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:

  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle
  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in

Balham is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.
