Hog roast hire in Chartridge, carved to order

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, which means it’s carved hot, with crisp crackling. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. We serve salads, hog roast rolls and crackling, and typical bookings are for garden parties and barbecues and birthdays and anniversaries.

In a small place like Chartridge, a hog roast often goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, and carved only when you are ready to eat.

The process

Expect a calm, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we’ve agreed, and get on with roasting and serving. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: around Chartridge, it stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, but by late December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains

You choose the date, the menu and the serving time; we do the rest. Just give us an outdoor spot to cook.

Do you serve the crackling?

Of course: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will confirm the space with your quote.

Can you cater in Chartridge?

Prices and what affects them

Your quote depends on:

  • Travel to Chartridge
  • Whether you want china
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Numbers

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

What to tell us

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Dietary requirements
  • Anything the venue has asked for

Send us the date, the address or HP5 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We’ll confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

For venues and planners, we are happy to work alongside your team.

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.

Planning for dietary needs

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed

Let us know if the day runs late: we can hold the roast for a while.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast, priced in the quote.

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • Space away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

What we serve, dish by dish

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb cooks slowly like the hog, and it’s carved the same way, often with mint sauce.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Let us know numbers for the vegan option, and we’ll bring enough vegan burgers or sausages.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
