Hog roast hire in Claygate, carved to order

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. For wakes and memorial gatherings and community events, we can cook coleslaw, salads and spit-roast lamb.

A place like Claygate often has a village hall, a recreation ground or a pub garden nearby; any can work, with the owner’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster. The hog is roasted on site at your event, slowly, over several hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

How we price a hog roast

The price comes down to:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Crockery choices
  • Travel to Claygate
  • Numbers

Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

Details that help

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Useful details:

  • Rough numbers
  • Your date and serving time
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Any venue rules

Every quote lists the menu, the serving time, staff and plates, so you can compare caterers fairly. Fill in our quote form.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast does not need a kitchen, which often makes it better value. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Why us?

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Find out who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so all you need is the space.

A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice, priced in the quote.

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • Space away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Parking near the spot

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

How the day works

Carving is part of the show: our chef carves the pork in front of the queue, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Claygate, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
