Hog roast hire for Inhurst

Common questions in Inhurst

We’re gathering after a service at Saint Mary's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Inhurst close to London?

About 48 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

How big a hog will we need?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so a good estimate matters. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.

Is all of Hampshire covered?

All of Hampshire is in our area. Send us the address for a quote.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

Can we have lamb or chicken?

The hog is the centrepiece, with lamb and chicken as extras.

Do you cook it or do we?

Both are available: fully catered, where we roast, carve and serve, or DIY machine hire. Catering is the most popular choice.

Can you roast in the rain?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Hog roast hire for your event in Inhurst

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. We serve crackling, hog roast rolls and spit-roast lamb, and typical bookings are for staff days and open days and wakes.

Somewhere as small as Inhurst, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Timings are planned around your event, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

Catered or do it yourself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

A hog roast or other catering?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. For bigger events, catering is typically the easier choice. Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

What you get with us

  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Planned to your running order
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

See how we price and the cost guide.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

Slow roasting needs attention, and that is what we are there for. You can relax and enjoy the day.

We also hire out the roaster for DIY hog roasts.

Why choose hog roast hire in Inhurst?

There is very little for you to organise: an outdoor cooking spot and a contact on the day. Everything else comes with us.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Inhurst: venues, access and local tips

Inhurst is about 2 miles west of Tadley, in Hampshire. We cater events across Inhurst and nearby, from gardens to fields. Inhurst is one of 683 towns and villages in Hampshire we cover. Our nearest city page is Reading, about 11 miles away.

For anyone arriving by rail, the closest railway station is Midgham station, roughly 2.8 miles north of the centre. For a fundraiser at a school like The Hurst School, the roaster can cook on a pitch agreed with the school.

For events in RG26, we just need to know where the roaster can cook. Local streets include Inhurst Lane, Stokes Lane and Brimpton Road; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. Nearby, we also cater events in Heath End (1 mile north-east), Baughurst (1 mile south-east), Axmansford (1 mile south), Brimpton Common (1 mile north-west) and Tadley (2 miles east). Working with your venue

If the event is on someone else’s land, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

Before you choose a spot

Most outdoor spaces can work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • Any venue rules sorted in advance
  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What comes off the roaster

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, so they get something hot and satisfying too.

Step by step

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Evenings in Inhurst stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:10pm; after dark, the serving area and the path to it need good lighting.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Name a contact for the day
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
