The menu, dish by dish

The hog roasts slowly for hours, so the meat is tender and juicy, and it is carved fresh as people come up.

How our hog roast hire works in Langney

A hog roast is one of the simplest ways to feed a crowd in Langney: a single slow roast, carved to order. We bring the roaster, the cover and the serving kit, and we serve and tidy up afterwards. On the menu are hog roast rolls, halloumi skewers and salads, and we’re often booked for club events and presentations and milestone birthdays.

A place like Langney often has a village hall, a recreation ground or a pub garden nearby; any can work, with the owner’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Catered or do it yourself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a barbecue, one roast feeds everyone at once, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

Looking after everyone

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information

We’ll agree a contact for the day, ideally not the host, so you can enjoy yourself.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Common questions in Langney

Can you roast near the sea around Langney?

Yes, of course. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.

Do you cater at venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Can you roast in the rain?

Rain does not stop the cooking. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Within reason, we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

What do you need from us on the day?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will confirm the space with your quote.

Do you cover the whole of East Sussex?

We cover East Sussex and the rest of London and the South East. Send us the address for a quote.

What’s included?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
