Hog roast hire in Preston, carved to order

Our hog roast hire is fully catered: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. For confident cooks, the machine can be hired on its own. Popular choices include hog roast rolls, salads and spit-roast lamb, and we are regularly asked to cater weddings, day or evening and big birthdays and anniversaries.

Around Preston, most London bookings are in back gardens, yards, school grounds and car parks. If there’s no side passage, a rear gate, yard or communal space may work, and send us a picture. Our staff serve and clear, so you’re not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with food vans, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

Why Preston hosts choose us

  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

Take a look at our prices page and the cost guide.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking does not depend on mains power; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. By late September, sunset in Preston is around 7:05pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:55pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We clear up and go.

How to prepare

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

Getting a price

What affects the price in Preston

Your quote depends on:

  • The journey to the venue
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Whether you want china

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Useful details:

  • A photo of the cooking area
  • The venue or postcode
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Every event is quoted on its own, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote: use our quote form.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Let us know numbers for the vegan option, and we will plan the vegan burgers or sausages.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.

Planning the cooking spot

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • A level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat

Preston is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Allergies and dietary needs

Tell us about dietary needs early and we’ll help. Some ideas:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

Name someone to meet us, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

We can supply china instead of standard plates, at an extra cost.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Common questions in Preston

Which station is closest to Preston?

South Kenton station, about 0.6 miles west of the centre.

Can you do a hog roast in Preston Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What do people get?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. We will explain what’s included in each when we quote.

Can we have lamb or chicken?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we’ll check.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We don’t offer halal meat.
