A hog roast near Rotherwick

Hog roast hire in Rotherwick, carved to order

The format is simple and it works for almost any crowd: roast pork in a soft roll, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling, and alternatives for anyone who doesn’t eat pork. We’re frequently asked to cater weddings, day or evening and clubhouse events, serving halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and crackling.

Somewhere as small as Rotherwick, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Evenings in Rotherwick stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.

  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

Catered or do it yourself?

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is typically easier.

FAQs for Rotherwick

Do you come out to small places like Rotherwick?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

What’s the nearest station to Rotherwick?

The closest is Hook station, roughly 1.8 miles away.

Do we need a big space?

Many gardens are big enough, as long as we can get the equipment in. A picture helps us check.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We will confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

Will people get crackling?

Of course: the skin turns to crackling and everyone gets some.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

What should we sort out beforehand?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: squeaky, salty cheese with colourful veg, in a roll or on a plate.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and children usually like it too.

Planning the cooking spot

It’s worth planning the cooking area in advance. The ideal spot has:

  • Any venue rules sorted in advance
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who does not eat it. Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address for an accurate figure.

Why Rotherwick hosts choose us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

Take a look at our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.
