How our hog roast hire works in Westerton

Our hog roast hire is fully catered: we roast, our chef carves and our staff serve. For confident cooks, the machine can be hired on its own. We are frequently asked to cater christmas fairs and work summer parties, with halloumi skewers, spit-roast lamb and salads.

Somewhere as small as Westerton, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. Timings are planned around your event, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

Stuffing and apple sauce

Sharp, sweet apple sauce and savoury sage and onion stuffing are the traditional pairing. Stuffing normally contains gluten.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Catered or DIY? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. For bigger events, catering is generally the easier choice. Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address for an accurate figure.

Why us?

  • An itemised quote
  • Planned to your running order
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

How it works

Your timings come first. If the day runs behind, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so tell us as soon as plans change. In Westerton, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Common questions in Westerton

We’re gathering after a service at The Parish Church of St Peter: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is normally elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

Is Westerton close to London?

About 52 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

What if things run late?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we will fit around changes.

Do you serve the crackling?

Yes, the crackling is shared out as we carve.

Do we need a big space?

Frequently, yes, if there’s a level, open spot away from the house and trees, as long as we can get the equipment in. Send us a picture.

Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. We will explain what’s included in each when we quote.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Find out who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so all you need is the space.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast.

How we price a hog roast

Things that change the price:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • How many people are eating
  • Plates or china
  • The date and time of year

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Any venue rules
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • An estimate of numbers

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your event: use our quote form.

Full catering or machine hire?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
