Hog roast hire for Maudlin

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast needs no kitchen and fewer staff, which generally keeps the cost down. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

What you get with us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to

Hog roast hire in Maudlin, carved to order

We provide a fully catered hog roast: we roast, our chef carves and our staff serve. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. Typical bookings include christmas parties and weddings, day or evening, serving salads, coleslaw and hog roast rolls.

In a rural place like Maudlin, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Full catering or machine hire?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking doesn’t depend on mains power. By late September, sunset in Maudlin is around 7:05pm, and in December it is nearer 4:00pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you are ready to eat.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: grilled halloumi with vegetables.

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Time on site
  • Season and day of the week
  • Numbers
  • Access to the cooking area

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

What we need to know

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • Allergies we should know about
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Rough numbers
  • The venue or postcode

Getting a quote is simple: date, place, numbers and serving time. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

Allergies and dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

Expect us to be on site for much of the day, because the roast starts hours before you eat.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
