Hog roast hire in Westminster

Hog roast hire around Westminster

Westminster is about 1 mile south-east of City of Westminster, in Greater London. We bring a hog roast to events anywhere in Westminster, given a suitable outdoor cooking area. Westminster is one of 764 places in Greater London where we cater.

Churches such as Christ Church rarely have room for a roaster, but a hall or home close by generally does. For a fundraiser at a school like Harris Westminster Sixth Form, the roaster can cook on a pitch agreed with the school.

For events in SW1P, W1J and SW1V, we just need to know where the roaster can cook and roughly how many guests. From Eaton Lane, Wilton Road and Castle Lane or a nearby road, we will bring the roaster to you. You will find Westminster on the A4 and A202, so it is easy for us to reach with the equipment. For events just outside Westminster, we cover Millbank (1 mile north), Victoria (1 mile south-west), Pimlico (1 mile south), Vauxhall (1 mile south-east) and Lambeth (1 mile south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Kensington (3 miles west), Shoreditch (3 miles north-east), Walthamstow (8 miles north-east), Hoxton (3 miles north-east), Whitechapel (3 miles north-east) and Hampstead (4 miles north-west).

A little further out are Baynard's Castle (1.7 miles north-east) and Kingly Court (0.9 miles north). Open spaces near Westminster include Barnsbury Wood and St. James's Park Lake.

  • Schools near Westminster include Blewcoat School (less than half a mile south-west) and St Matthew's School (within half a mile south-east)
  • Pubs nearby include Grafton Arms (less than half a mile south)
  • Local facilities include Westminster St Margaret and St John (less than half a mile north) and London Library (0.6 miles north)

Hog roast hire in Westminster, slow-roasted on site

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, which means it’s carved hot, with crisp crackling. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. Popular choices include spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken, and typical bookings are for staff days and open days and wedding breakfasts and evening food.

Gardens in Westminster tend to be compact, with neighbours on both sides, so we look for a spot well away from fences, sheds and windows. A word with the neighbours before a long roast is always a good idea. Timings are planned around your event, working back from when you want to eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

FAQs for Westminster

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Westminster?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard normally works. Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

We’re gathering after a service at Christ Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Is mains power needed?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Is all of Greater London covered?

Greater London is part of our area. Get in touch for a price.

What do you need from us on the day?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We will bring the rest.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

Do you cook it or do we?

Either: fully catered, where we roast, carve and serve, or DIY machine hire. Most people choose catering.

What happens when we hire a hog roast?

We handle the roasting, carving and serving. All we need is a place to cook outdoors.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

Slow roasting needs attention, and that’s what we are there for. You can get on with your event.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

What happens on the day

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Around midsummer it stays light in Westminster until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is usually in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment

Catered or do it yourself?

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

What we serve, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Choose from salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes, to suit your event.

Rotisserie chicken

For guests who don’t eat pork, rotisserie chicken is the easy answer, and it suits fussy eaters.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a plated meal, a hog roast doesn’t need a kitchen, which typically keeps the cost down. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

Why book with us

  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

See how we price and our hog roast cost guide.

Planning the cooking spot

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. We look for:

  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • Any venue rules sorted in advance

Westminster is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.
