About our party hog roast in Banstead
A big birthday deserves a centrepiece, and a whole hog roasting in the garden is exactly that. Your guests will smell it from the street. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, a vegan burger or sausage and coleslaw, and we are frequently booked for back-garden get-togethers and big family get-togethers.
In a place like Banstead, a party at home is generally the easiest option. Let us know how we reach the garden, and we’ll bring everything else. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you are not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.
Catered or do it yourself?
You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.
For event organisers in Banstead
If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.
Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
Parties in Banstead: homes, halls and local tips
Banstead is about 3 miles west of Coulsdon, in Surrey. We cover Banstead and its neighbours for parties. Banstead is one of 395 places in Surrey we cover. You can also see our page for London, about 13 miles away.
If your garden is too small, local halls and clubs near Banstead can be an alternative, as long as there is outdoor space for the roaster. If you had Fames Rough in mind, ask the council or landowner first: we can’t simply set up a roaster in a public park. The Surrey Hills National Landscape is within about 7 miles of Banstead, so many gardens around here have a great outlook.
For parties in SM7, we just need to know where the roaster can cook and roughly how many guests. Whether your party is on High Street, Glenfield Road and Highview Path or anywhere nearby, we will bring the roaster to you. Banstead is on the A217 and A2022, so it is easy for us to reach with the equipment. What else we do in Banstead
Banstead: your questions answered
What’s the nearest station to Banstead?
The closest is Banstead station, roughly 0.7 miles away.
Do you cater at venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.
Do we need a marquee for a party hog roast?
Not for the cooking, but a gazebo or indoor space for guests is a good backup.
Do you provide china?
Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.
When do you start roasting?
Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.
What’s the price?
Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Ask us for a quote.
What should we sort out beforehand?
The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.
What if things run late?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.
Step by step
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We will agree the spot with you beforehand. In Banstead, late May sunsets come at about 8:50pm and midsummer ones at about 9:20pm, so most summer parties eat in daylight. Winter parties, dark by about 3:55pm, need lights by the roaster.
- You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
- We check the space and send a clear quote.
- We set up early and get the hog roasting.
- We carve and serve at the agreed time.
- We pack away and leave the garden tidy.

Space, access and the venue
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:
- Somewhere for us to park nearby
- Somewhere dry for guests to eat
- A spot well away from the house
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.
Popular choices
- Jacket potatoes
- Crackling
- Stuffing and apple sauce
- Coleslaw
- Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
- Rotisserie chicken
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Hog roast rolls
- Salads
Diets, allergies and alternatives
We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
- Collect dietary needs when guests reply
- Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect
A cooked roast holds for a while, so tell us if timings change.
A string of lights by the carving station looks great as it gets dark.
A hog roast or other catering?
Next to a party buffet, a hog roast is hot and freshly carved, and nothing sits out all afternoon. Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.
