Party hog roast in Regents Park, slow-roasted on site

If you’d rather cook yourself, DIY machine hire is an option. Most people choose the catered option, so they can enjoy the party. Typical bookings include street parties and big family get-togethers, with jacket potatoes, crackling and rotisserie chicken.

The menu, dish by dish

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, with gluten-free rolls on request.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Choose from salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes, depending on the season and the occasion.

Should I cook it myself?

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

The process

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. For an evening party in Regents Park, think about light: daylight lasts until about 9:25pm at midsummer, but by late September it is around 7:10pm. A string of lights over the serving table works wonders.

  1. Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. We set up early and get the hog roasting.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve when you’re ready.
  5. We pack away and leave the garden tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

Hosting a hog roast party in Regents Park

Regents Park is about 2 miles west of Southampton, in Southampton. Planning a hog roast for your party in Regents Park? We cover the whole area. We cover all 40 towns and villages across Southampton, from the larger towns to small villages.

Among the historic houses close to Regents Park are Southampton Tudor House and Garden (2 miles south-east) and Medieval Merchant's House (2.1 miles south-east). If you are hiring a historic venue for a big birthday, check its rules on outside caterers first. Parks such as St James' Park usually need permission from the council or landowner for any cooking, so check first. Regents Park is within about 7 miles of the New Forest National Park, so a garden party here comes with a lovely backdrop. Near the coast, within about 3 miles, gardens can catch the wind, so we plan a sheltered spot.

This part of Southampton takes in SO15, SO16 and SO17, and we can cater your party anywhere in it. We can cater a party on streets such as May Road, Mill Road and York Road or the roads around them, as long as there is somewhere outside to cook. Regents Park is on the A33 and A3057, so it’s easy for us to reach with the equipment. If your venue is just outside Regents Park, we also cover Shirley (1 mile east), Millbrook (1 mile south-west), Freemantle (1 mile south-east), Maybush (1 mile north-west) and Coxford (1 mile north). Within a short drive, we also cover Townhill Park (4 miles east), Midanbury (3 miles east), Thornhill (4 miles east), Chartwell Green (4 miles east), Harefield (4 miles east) and Itchen (3 miles east). Being one of Southampton’s larger places, Regents Park has lots of places with room for a hog roast.

Nearby you will also find Marlands Shopping Centre (1.8 miles south-east) and Netley Castle (4.6 miles south-east). Within reach you will find Testwood Lakes.

  • Nearby schools include Foundry Lane Primary School (under half a mile east) and Millbrook Community School (1.2 miles north-west)
  • Local pubs include The Crown Public House (less than half a mile north-east)

Questions from Regents Park

We’re gathering after a service at Church of the Holy Trinity: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is normally elsewhere. Send us the address.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the New Forest National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We will be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will fit around changes.

How do we prepare?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

How big a hog will we need?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will confirm everything in writing.

Is our garden suitable?

Frequently, yes, if there is a level spot away from the house and trees, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a photo.

What if it rains?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Instead of booking a restaurant, you keep the party at home, with room for everyone. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head typically falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

Why us?

  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Planned to your running order
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

Take a look at our pricing or the cost guide.

Prices and what affects them

Your quote depends on:

  • How many people are eating
  • Access to the cooking area
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Whether you want china

UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

What to tell us

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • The address or postcode

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.
