About hog roast hire in RH11
We provide a fully catered hog roast: we roast, our chef carves and our staff serve. For confident cooks, the machine can be hired on its own. We’re frequently asked to cater wakes and corporate events, serving new potatoes, salads and coleslaw.
Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some.
- First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
- We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
- On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
- At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
- We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.
What you will pay
UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Why book our hog roast
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- Staff to serve, so you do not have to
- No surprises: everything in writing
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

Around Broadfield
Bookings here are often close to Target Hill Park, Discovery New School and The New Moon pub, among other places. You will also find Cottesmore School (0.7 miles south-west), Seymour Primary School (less than half a mile north) and Christ The Lord (within half a mile north-east). For guests coming by rail, the closest station is Crawley station, roughly 1.4 miles north-east of the centre. A little further out are Crawley Hospital (1.5 miles north) and Crawley Museum (1.7 miles north-east). Within reach you’ll find Tilgate Lake.
A hog roast across RH11: what to know
There are 3 towns and 2 villages and hamlets in RH11, so whether your event is in Crawley, Broadfield and Bewbush or a quiet village, the approach is the same: a level outdoor spot, a way in and a plan.
Broadfield: If you are gathering after a service at a church like Christ The Lord, a nearby hall or garden suits a hog roast. For anyone arriving by rail, the nearest station is Crawley station, about 1.4 miles north-east. Around midsummer it stays light in Broadfield until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is generally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.
A hog roast or other catering?
Compared with a plated meal, a hog roast needs no kitchen and fewer staff, which generally keeps the cost down.
What your quote should include
- VAT, if it applies
- How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive
- Whether plates or china are included
- What the price includes, item by item
What a hog roast costs
Here’s what affects the price:
- Plates or china
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
- The number of people
When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.
What we need to know
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:
- Anything the venue has asked for
- Any dietary needs or allergies
- The address or postcode
- A picture of the cooking area
The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A photo of the cooking area helps. Send us your details through our quote form.
What comes off the roaster
Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
Tell us how many vegans to expect, and we’ll plan the vegan burgers or sausages.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.
Before you choose a spot
The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:
- Cover for your guests in bad weather
- Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
- A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
Organising for someone else?
Venues often have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.
Booking for a club or group? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.
RH11 questions
Is there a non-pork option?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You will get allergen details for everything.
Is it just pork?
Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.
When should we book?
Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.
Will there be enough to go round?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you are feeding, so a good estimate matters. We will confirm the menu in the quote.
How does hog roast hire work?
We bring the roaster, roast the hog on site for hours, then our chef carves it and our staff serve, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling.
- Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
- Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
- Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
