Hog roast hire for West Green

Hog roast hire in West Green, carved to order

Hog roast hire takes the cooking off your hands. We get there early, put up the cover and roast for hours, ready to carve when you are. Typical bookings include sports clubs and societies and parties at home, serving spit-roast lamb, hog roast rolls and salads.

In a smaller place like West Green, a hog roast in the garden is often the simplest option: plenty of room, no hire fees and nobody stuck in the kitchen. Let us know how we reach the garden. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance

The roaster needs looking after for hours, which is our job, not yours. You can get on with your event.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

West Green: your questions answered

Can you do a hog roast in Grattons Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first.

We’re gathering after a service at Voice of Deliverance Full Gospel Church of God: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat is not something we offer.

Do you need power or water?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

How big a hog will we need?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

What meats can we have?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

A hog roast or other catering?

Catered or DIY? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. Most hosts choose catering for anything bigger than a family party. The main driver is numbers: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Here’s what people in West Green most frequently book a hog roast for:

  • Corporate events
  • Club events and presentations
  • Village fêtes and school fairs
  • Parties at home

Thinking of a hog roast in Grattons Park? Cooking in a park needs the owner’s permission, usually the council’s, and many parks do not allow it.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

A hog roast in West Green: local details

West Green is about 1 mile north of Crawley, in West Sussex. Hosts in West Green book us for events of all sizes. West Green is one of 371 towns and villages in West Sussex where we cater. Our nearest city page is Guildford, about 19 miles away.

If guests are travelling by rail, the closest railway station is Crawley station, roughly 0.8 miles south of the centre. Churches such as Voice of Deliverance Full Gospel Church of God rarely have room for a roaster, but a hall or home close by normally does.

Your event could be at a house on Bank Lane, Swift Lane and Raven Lane or the roads around them, wherever there’s an outdoor spot for the roaster. • Access for our equipment, without steps
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Should I cook it myself?

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Step by step

Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. It’s worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. Light matters for a long roast: in West Green, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you are ready to eat.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Name a contact for the day
