Should I cook it myself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Wedding hog roast in Brighton, slow-roasted on site

We look after guests who do not eat pork: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat. We’re frequently asked to cater intimate weddings and weddings in a marquee, with salads, halloumi skewers and crackling.

A large place like Brighton offers hotels, function rooms and gardens. We need an outdoor cooking spot near the reception. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

For event organisers in Brighton

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Questions from Brighton

Can you do a hog roast in William Clarke Park?

What’s the nearest station to Brighton?

Brighton has its own station: London Road (Brighton) station.

Do you need power or water?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

Will guests be full?

Quantities are based on your guest list, and we will confirm it in writing.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will confirm everything in writing.

How the day works

Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Golden-hour photos in Brighton at midsummer come around 9:15pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

Preparing for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

A common mix is a plated meal followed by an evening hog roast; others make the hog roast the main meal. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

What you get with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • All the equipment comes with us
