Wedding hog roast in Burchett's Green, slow-roasted on site

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It’s food and a bit of theatre. We are frequently asked to cater marquee receptions and weddings in a family garden, serving carved roast pork, spit-roast lamb and rotisserie chicken.

There’s something special about a country wedding near Burchett's Green, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. You will know what’s included before you book: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed, with no surprises on the day.

Is Burchett's Green too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Is mains power needed?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.

Will our venue allow a hog roast?

Many do, but some only allow approved caterers or charge a fee. Ask your venue early, and we’ll work with them on the details.

Do you bring plates?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Can we have a hog roast as the main meal?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, and our staff serve your guests.

What do people get?

Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

How big a hog will we need?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

The process

We work to your timings. If the day runs behind, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so keep us posted on the day. In Burchett's Green, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is typically served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. Tell us whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Organising for someone else?

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.
