Wedding hog roast in Crook Log, carved to order

The carving station becomes a focal point: people gather round as the chef carves. It’s food and a bit of theatre. On the menu are halloumi skewers, crackling and new potatoes, and we are often booked for weddings in a family garden and the main wedding meal.

Couples in Crook Log often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, which many London venues can’t offer, so ask early. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, low and slow, for hours, and carved only when you’re ready to eat.

What happens on the day

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. Golden-hour photos in Crook Log at midsummer come around 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff clear the serving area and we leave quietly.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Planning help

Should I cook it myself?

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a wedding barbecue, one roast feeds all your guests together. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Why book our hog roast in Crook Log

  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

What affects the price in Crook Log

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Travel to Crook Log
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Whether you want china

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Your menu choices
  • Rough numbers
  • Any venue rules

Planning for dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation

We are on site for much of the day, working quietly in the background.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, as an extra.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Crook Log: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Crook Log?

Bexleyheath station, in Crook Log itself.

Can you do a hog roast in Danson Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, and our staff serve your guests.

Will our venue allow a hog roast?

Many do, but some only allow approved caterers or charge a fee. Check with them first, and we’ll liaise with them.

Is mains power needed?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

How long does the roast need?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.

Can you work around our timings?

We work back from when you want to eat, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
