Wedding hog roast in Green Street

DIY versus a catered hog roast

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Wedding hog roast in Green Street, slow-roasted on site

A hog roast suits relaxed weddings in Green Street: generous, hearty food carved in front of your guests. Our staff serve and clear, so the day runs smoothly. Whether it is barn and farm weddings and marquee weddings, we’ll put together a menu of halloumi skewers, carved roast pork and new potatoes.

A wedding in a small place like Green Street often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Let us know about access and ground. Timings are planned around your wedding, working back from when you want to eat.

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • Approval from the venue or marquee supplier
  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

  • Vegan option (Ve)

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

For evening food, we carve as the dancing gets going.

Gluten-free rolls can be provided for the evening food.

What comes off the roaster

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, turned until the skin is golden.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers ensure they’re not left with just salad.

What happens on the day

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. 1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Prices and what affects them

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Numbers
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Whether you want china
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.
