Wedding hog roast in Heston, carved to order

Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: it can be held for a while once cooked, so a long speech won’t ruin the food. Typical bookings include wedding breakfasts with sides and second-day get-togethers, with new potatoes, crackling and halloumi skewers.

In Heston, venues set rules on outside caterers and gas cooking. Ask about a courtyard or garden, and we will agree the details with them. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Heston

Could you cook in Inwood Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first.

What’s the nearest station to Heston?

Southall station, about 1.4 miles north of the centre.

Can you work around our timings?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

Many do, but some only allow approved caterers or charge a fee. Check with them first, and we will liaise with them.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will check it with you before booking.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Space, access and the venue

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. Check these:

  • Light near the carving station after dark
  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests

As a London location, Heston is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

What affects the price in Heston

Each price is built from:

  • Plates or china
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • The number of people
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • Any venue rules
  • An estimate of numbers
  • The date and time of the event
  • Dietary requirements

For a quote, send us a few details: your date, your venue or postcode, how many people and any menu choices. Send us your details through our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Stuffing and apple sauce

Sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce are the classic partners, balancing the rich, salty pork.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it is carved fresh as people come up.

Should I cook it myself?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

A hog roast compared with other options

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. For larger numbers, a hog roast is typically good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

What you get with us

  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

What happens on the day

We work to your timings. If things run late, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so tell us as soon as plans change. In Heston, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is generally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Tell us whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Before we arrive

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
