Wedding hog roast in Hornchurch, carved to order

Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: a cooked roast holds for a while, so the food copes with a delayed running order. We’re often asked to cater marquee weddings and wedding breakfasts with sides, with spit-roast lamb, carved roast pork and rotisserie chicken.

For a wedding in Hornchurch, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. A courtyard, garden or yard is ideal, and we will work through it together. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we will give you the allergen information for every dish.

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Hornchurch

Can you do a hog roast in St. Andrew's Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What’s the nearest station to Hornchurch?

The closest is Emerson Park station, roughly 0.7 miles away.

Where does the hog roast go?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. A photo helps.

Can we add a second roast?

Of course: lamb and pork together give guests a choice.

Can the hog roast be for the evening?

It is one of our most popular wedding bookings. Hot pork rolls are perfect late in the evening.

Can we just hire the roaster?

We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. We will explain the details with your quote.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is typically fine if the venue is happy.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

Step by step

The secret is time: the meat cooks gently until it is tender while the skin turns into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. In Hornchurch, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:50pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

How to prepare

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready

Planning help

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why book with us

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

About the food

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which works well for larger groups.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Planning for dietary needs

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:

  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Halal is not offered, so plan separately if needed
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen list

We serve and clear without fuss, so the party carries on around us.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, quoted separately.
