Wedding hog roast in Lancing

Wedding hog roast near Lancing

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It’s food and a bit of theatre. For vow renewals and blessings and the main wedding meal, we can cook crackling, spit-roast lamb and carved roast pork for your guests.

A farm or garden wedding near Lancing suits a hog roast. We need a level spot and access. The hog is roasted on site at your wedding, low and slow, for hours.

Lancing: your questions answered

How far is Lancing from London?

Roughly 47 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Can you cater after a service at St. Michael & All Angels?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Send us the address.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat is not something we offer.

When do you start roasting?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. You will know our arrival time in advance.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

Check with the venue first: some welcome outside caterers, others do not. We’ll sort the details with them.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Is mains power needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Who serves?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

How it works

A typical booking goes like this: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the roast cooks gently through the day, and our chef carves it when you are ready. At midsummer, sunset in Lancing is about 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

Preparing for the day

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival

Planners, venues and businesses

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what we can provide.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a cold buffet, hot carved pork beats sandwiches every time late at night. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

Why Lancing hosts choose us

  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Timed around your day

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list

Give us your venue coordinator’s details, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.
