Book a hog roast in Muswell Hill

Wedding hog roast near Muswell Hill

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the time you’ve set. Whether it’s weddings in a marquee and small, informal weddings, we can cook halloumi skewers, salads and spit-roast lamb and more.

For a wedding in Muswell Hill, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. A courtyard, garden or yard is ideal, and we’ll work through it together. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Space, access and the venue

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • A way in for the roaster
  • Lighting for evening service
  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests

As a London location, Muswell Hill is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

Catered or do it yourself?

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

How it works

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we don’t need mains power to cook, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. In Muswell Hill, evening wedding food often coincides with dusk: about 9:20pm at midsummer, 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. A few lights by the serving table help guests and photos alike.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Planning for dietary needs

Some guests won’t eat pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

If speeches overrun or the band starts late, we adjust. Just keep us informed.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, quoted separately.

Muswell Hill: your questions answered

What if our house in Muswell Hill has no side access?

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

Can you do a hog roast in Alexandra Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

How long does the roast need?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

It depends on the venue. Ask your venue early, and we will liaise with them.

What happens in bad weather?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Can you cook inside the marquee?

The roaster stays outdoors on level ground.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

What a hog roast costs

The price comes down to:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Whether you want china
  • How many people are eating
  • Distance from us

Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Where the event is
  • An estimate of numbers
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

Getting a quote is simple: date, place, numbers and serving time. We will reply with a clear price and what’s included. Use our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.
