Wedding hog roast in Park Royal

Wedding hog roast near Park Royal

A slow roast suits a wedding day that runs late: a cooked roast holds for a while, so a long speech will not ruin the food. Whether it is wedding breakfasts and the day after the wedding, we’ll put together a menu of halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and salads for your guests.

Couples in Park Royal often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. We need an outdoor cooking area clear of the venue, which many London venues cannot offer, so ask early. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

Running late? A slow roast can wait a little. Your coordinator can keep us posted.

Full catering or machine hire?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we don’t need mains power to cook, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. Winter weddings in Park Royal are dark by about 3:55pm, so plan a lit path from the party to the food, while a June wedding has light until about 9:20pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
  • Space well clear of tents and trees
  • Permission for outside catering

Park Royal is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Questions from Park Royal

Can you do a hog roast in St. Raphael's Edible Garden?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first.

What if our house in Park Royal has no side access?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard normally works. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Tell us your date and we’ll send a price.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll check it with you before booking.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. We can serve inside the marquee if the supplier agrees.

How do you work out quantities?

We size the roast to your numbers, so a good estimate matters. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.

What about guests who don’t eat pork?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

DIY machine hire is available. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Why choose a hog roast in Park Royal?

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and usually costs less per head. It still feels like a feast. For larger numbers, a hog roast is typically good value, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Why book with us

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

The price comes down to:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Whether you want china
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
