Slow-roasted pork in Roehampton

Wedding hog roast in Roehampton, slow-roasted on site

Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: it can be held for a while once cooked, so the food copes with a delayed running order. We serve new potatoes, spit-roast lamb and carved roast pork, and we are regularly asked to cater post-wedding gatherings and relaxed, low-key weddings.

For a wedding in Roehampton, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. Ask about a courtyard or garden, and we will work through it together. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is usually easier.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

Next to other evening food, a hog roast serves a crowd quickly once carving starts. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why us?

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • We bring everything to cook and serve

How it works

Here’s how the day normally runs: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you’re ready. Golden-hour photos in Roehampton at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

What comes off the roaster

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and our chef carves it to order.

Stuffing and apple sauce

Sharp, sweet apple sauce and savoury sage and onion stuffing go with the pork perfectly. Stuffing normally contains gluten.

What the cooking area needs

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • Space well clear of tents and trees
  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster

As a London location, Roehampton is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Roehampton: your questions answered

Could you cook in Putney Heath?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first.

What’s the nearest station to Roehampton?

Barnes station, about 0.8 miles north of the centre.

How much will it be?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We’ll bring the rest.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

The roaster stays outdoors on level ground, and we agree the spot with your venue.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Who serves?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
