Book a hog roast in Wimbledon Park

Wedding hog roast near Wimbledon Park

Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat. Popular choices include crackling, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken, and typical bookings are for evening receptions and relaxed, low-key weddings.

For a wedding in Wimbledon Park, the venue’s rules decide where a hog roast can go. A courtyard, garden or yard is ideal, and we’ll work through it together. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

A hog roast compared with other options

A common mix is a plated meal followed by an evening hog roast; others have the hog roast as the main event. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

What you get with us

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

Read our prices page or what a hog roast costs.

About the food

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Crunchy coleslaw suits roast pork, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which suits bigger events.

How the day works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we’ve agreed, and get on with roasting and serving. Golden-hour photos in Wimbledon Park at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand

Wimbledon Park questions

We’re gathering after a service at Church of St Luke: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

What’s the nearest station to Wimbledon Park?

Earlsfield station, about 1 mile north-east of the centre.

Can we add a second roast?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the hog.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.

When do you start roasting?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

How much will it be?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Tell us your date and we’ll send a price.

Can you do gluten-free?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

Can we just hire the roaster?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we will talk you through it.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card

For evening food, we carve as the dancing gets going, timed with you in advance.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, as an extra.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

Things that change the price:

  • The number of people
  • Time on site
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Whether you want china

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A photo of the cooking area helps. Fill in our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
