Wedding hog roast in Terriers, carved to order

Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. Halal meat is not available. For post-wedding gatherings and rustic barn receptions, we can cook salads, carved roast pork and spit-roast lamb and more.

Weddings in a place like Terriers frequently feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. We roast outside, well clear of the marquee. Tell us about access to the field or garden. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Put a dietary question on the invitation
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Give your coordinator the final menu

We’re on site for much of the day, working quietly in the background.

Some couples add lights around the serving area; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

What affects the price in Terriers

Each price is built from:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Whether you want china
  • Season and day of the week

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Any venue rules
  • Rough numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we will quote on that, and you can confirm nearer the time. Use our quote form.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Terriers: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Terriers?

The closest is High Wycombe station, roughly 1 mile away.

Is Terriers close to London?

About 29 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Is there a non-pork option?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Do you need power or water?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.

Is a hog roast enough for a wedding?

Quantities are based on your guest list, and we will confirm it in writing.

What happens in bad weather?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Can you do gluten-free?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Should I cook it myself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Working with your venue

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

The process

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. In Terriers, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
  3. We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

How to prepare

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
