Book a hog roast in Upton

Wedding hog roast in Upton, carved to order

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: people gather round as the chef carves. It feels like an occasion. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and spit-roast lamb, and we’re often booked for farm weddings and post-wedding gatherings.

A farm or garden wedding near Upton suits a hog roast. We need level ground, cover and a way in. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

The process

Service is quick once we start carving: the chef carves and the team serves, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. For a summer wedding in Upton, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Gather dietary requirements early

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • The journey to the venue
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Menu choices and extras

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any venue rules
  • Dietary requirements
  • Rough numbers

If you’re comparing hog roast caterers for Upton, check what each quote actually includes. We spell it out in ours. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

What the cooking area needs

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Before booking, check:

  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
  • Lighting for evening service
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we serve

  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Halloumi skewers (V)

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to a cold buffet, hot rolls carved to order go down much better late at night. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Why book with us

  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Planned to your running order
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

Full catering or machine hire?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Upton: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Upton?

Upton has its own station: Broadstairs station.

What about windy coastal sites?

Yes, of course. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Can you do gluten-free?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Can we just hire the roaster?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we will talk you through it.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

Is mains power needed?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Planning for dietary needs

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

Evening food generally goes out an hour or two after the first dance.

For a sit-down meal, ask for china, quoted separately.

What we serve, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

For guests who don’t eat pork, rotisserie chicken is the easy answer, and it suits fussy eaters.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which works well for larger groups.

Planners, venues and businesses

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you are booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.
