Wedding hog roast for Wraysbury

Wedding hog roast in Wraysbury, slow-roasted on site

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the time you’ve set. We are frequently asked to cater second-day get-togethers and marquee receptions, serving halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and new potatoes.

In Wraysbury, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a lovely, personal choice. We roast outside, well clear of the marquee. Let us know about access. Your quote spells out what’s included: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed, with no surprises on the day.

What affects the price in Wraysbury

We don’t use a fixed price list, because every wedding is different. The main factors are:

  • Plates or china
  • Menu choices and extras
  • The journey to the venue
  • How long the roast and service take

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • Allergies we should know about
  • The date and time of the event
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • An estimate of numbers

It is easy to get a price: date, place, numbers and serving time. You will get a clear quote listing what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Allergies and dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card

Our staff serve and clear quietly, so the party carries on around us.

Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.

About the food

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

Wraysbury: your questions answered

Can you do a hog roast in Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first.

Can you cater after a service at Church of St Andrew?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, and our staff serve your guests.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

When should we book?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat.

Is mains power needed?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.

What happens on the day

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. At a December wedding in Wraysbury, it is dark by about 3:55pm, so the route from the reception to the hog roast needs lighting, while a June wedding has light until about 9:25pm.

  1. Tell us whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
  3. We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

Before we arrive

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Gather dietary requirements early

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. There may be a fee. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.
