How our Christmas hog roast works in West End

We plan for winter weather: we cook under cover, and guests eat somewhere warm. A hall, office or marquee works well. We are frequently asked to cater christmas fairs and office Christmas parties, serving rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and roast potatoes.

In West End, festive bookings tend to be at workplaces and homes. Tell us about lighting and access. The hog is roasted on site at your Christmas party, low and slow, for hours, and carved only when you’re ready to eat.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Full catering or machine hire?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

What a hog roast costs

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Site access
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • The date and time of year
  • Menu choices and extras

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Details that help

When you enquire, please mention:

  • Dietary requirements
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Where the event is
  • Your date and serving time

We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or W1F postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Use our quote form.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:

  • A level spot outdoors with lighting nearby
  • Light by the serving table
  • Hardstanding if possible in winter

West End is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

From the roaster

  • Vegan option (Ve)
  • Roast potatoes
  • Salads

Planning for dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Find out who’d prefer turkey or chicken
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers

At the agreed time, we carve hot and serve, so food goes out straight from the roaster.

Roast turkey can be added.

How the day works

From setting up to the last roll, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your Christmas party. With sunset at about 3:55pm in December, most Christmas parties in West End are after dark. We bring lighting for the cooking area; tell us about lighting on the way to it.

  1. Send us your Christmas party date, venue and numbers.
  2. We check the date and the outdoor cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.
  4. The team serves hot rolls at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we pack up and leave the spot tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready

Questions from West End

Could you cook in St Anne's Churchyard?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first.

What’s the nearest station to West End?

West End has its own station: Tottenham Court Road station.

Can the food be served indoors?

We cook outside, but can usually serve indoors if the venue agrees.

How big a hog will we need?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll talk it through when we quote.

When should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.

Do you need power or water?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.

What if it rains?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce make the roll, just as they should.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
