Film set catering for your shoot in Canada

We liaise with your locations and production team on access, base layout and timings for shoots around Canada. Popular choices include a vegan option, rotisserie chicken and new potatoes, and we are often booked for rural locations and extended shoot days.

Near Canada, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so hot food at base is a big help. The carving happens right in front of your crew, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

How the day works

A typical booking goes like this: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the roast cooks gently through the day, and our chef carves it when you are ready. Late-September shoots near Canada lose the light at about 7:10pm, so a late wrap needs lighting at base.

  1. Send us the location, dates and lunch time.
  2. We check access to base and quote.
  3. We set up at base and roast through the morning.
  4. We serve when lunch is called.
  5. We pack away straight after.

Before we arrive

  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready

The menu, dish by dish

Crackling

Crackling is what people queue for: golden, crunchy and salty, straight off the hog.

Spit-roast lamb

Adding lamb gives people a choice of two roasts, which works well for larger groups.

Canada: your questions answered

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the New Forest National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

What’s the nearest station to Canada?

The closest is Romsey station, roughly 4.6 miles away.

Can you cater in Canada?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Canada and Hampshire. Tell us the venue and we will quote.

Do you provide china?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, and we clear up when service is finished.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will confirm the space with your quote.

What’s the price?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

Can you work to the call sheet?

That’s exactly how we work, holding the roast if lunch moves.

Planning for dietary needs

Some crew won’t eat pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Share the allergen list with the crew
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Tell us who doesn’t eat pork

We follow location rules on vehicles and timings.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Occasions we serve in Canada

We bring everything we need.

We are booked for all kinds of occasions in Canada and nearby. Popular bookings include:

  • Wrap parties
  • Countryside locations
  • Music video days
  • Crew appreciation lunches

Nearby historic houses include Landford Manor (2 miles north-west). Historic houses are popular locations, and most keep cooking well away from the house, so plan the unit base with locations.

Comparing caterers

  • Whether plates or china are included
  • Arrival time and how long the roast needs
  • How many staff will carve and serve
  • A clear list of what’s included

How to compare hog roast caterers

Working with your venue

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

What affects the price in Canada

We work out each quote from:

  • Distance from us
  • Site access
  • How long the roast and service take
  • Numbers

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Details that help

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Where the event is

When you’re weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. We spell it out in ours. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
