Slow-roasted pork in Chale Green
About the food
Spit-roast lamb
Spit-roast lamb cooks slowly like the hog, carved to order at the serving station.
Crackling
For many people, the crackling is the best bit: crisp, golden and full of flavour, straight off the hog.
Film set catering in Chale Green, slow-roasted on site
Crews can be big, and carving feeds plenty of people quickly. Add sides for a full meal. We serve spit-roast lamb, salads and rotisserie chicken, and we are regularly asked to cater crew appreciation lunches and shoots on location.
Rural locations near Chale Green can be a long way from food, so lunch at base matters. Our chef carves in front of your crew, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

Chale Green questions
Do you come out to small places like Chale Green?
No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Can you roast near the sea around Chale Green?
Yes, of course. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.
Can we just hire the roaster?
Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.
How much room do you need?
A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We’ll check it with you before booking.
Can you work around our timings?
Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll fit around changes.
When should we book?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.
How much will it be?
Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your shoot for a quote.
What about crew who don’t eat pork?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t provide halal meat.
Allergies and dietary needs
A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:
- Share the allergen list with the crew
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
- Label the alternatives clearly
- Halal isn’t offered
If lunch moves, we hold the roast a little; just let us know.
China crockery is available on request.
Planning the cooking spot
Planning the cooking spot is the key. A quick checklist:
- Sign-off from the location
- One contact for the day
- Away from vehicles and equipment
Chale Green is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.
If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Organising for someone else?
Planning on behalf of a committee? A single point of contact keeps things simple, especially on the day.
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with a barbecue, one roast serves everyone together. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Prices and what affects them
Here’s what affects the price:
- Access to the cooking area
- The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
- Whether you want china
- The date and time of year
The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.
What we need to know
Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:
- The date and when you’d like to eat
- An estimate of numbers
- A picture of the cooking area
- Anything the venue has asked for
We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your shoot: fill in our quote form.
- Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
- Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
- Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
