Hog roast hire in Hare Hatch

Hog roast hire in Hare Hatch, carved to order

The smell of roasting pork is half the appeal. We roast slowly on site in Hare Hatch, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. Typical bookings include club events and presentations and christmas fairs, serving hog roast rolls, salads and spit-roast lamb.

Somewhere as small as Hare Hatch, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. We plan the timings around your day, working back from when you want to eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

How the day works

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Evenings in Hare Hatch stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you are ready to eat.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

Preparing for the day

Thinking of a hog roast in Loddon Nature Reserve? Cooking in a park needs the owner’s permission, generally the council’s, and many parks don’t allow it. If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Robert Piggott CofE Infant School, a hog roast is a crowd-pleaser.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved thick or thin, as people like it, and served hot.

Stuffing and apple sauce

A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

Expect us to be on site for much of the day, because the roast starts hours before you eat.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal.

Catered or do it yourself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

What affects the price in Hare Hatch

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • The number of people
  • The date and time of year
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Time on site

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • The address or postcode
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Roughly how many people

It is easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. You’ll get a clear quote listing what’s included. Fill in our quote form.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

For event organisers in Hare Hatch

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you are booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We will fit in with site rules.

Before you choose a spot

Most outdoor spaces can work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:

  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Common questions in Hare Hatch

How far is Hare Hatch from London?

About 32 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Could you cook in Loddon Nature Reserve?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Is crackling included?

Yes, the crackling is shared out as we carve.

How big a hog will we need?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

Is our garden big enough?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we will tell you honestly.

How does hog roast hire work?

You choose the date, the menu and the serving time; we do the rest. Just give us an outdoor spot to cook.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
