A hog roast near Heathrow

Hog roast hire in Heathrow, slow-roasted on site

People book a hog roast in Heathrow for everything from birthdays to fêtes. Whatever the occasion, the format is the same: slow roasting at your venue, then carving and serving. Whether it is wakes and memorial gatherings and parties at home, we can cook coleslaw, new potatoes and salads for your guests.

Somewhere as small as Heathrow, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we will give you the allergen information for every dish.

FAQs for Heathrow

How far is Heathrow from London?

About 16 miles from central London.

Which station is closest to Heathrow?

Heathrow has its own station: Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 Rail station.

Do we need a big space?

Many gardens are big enough, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a picture.

Do you serve the crackling?

Of course: the skin turns to crackling and everyone gets some.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. We’ll explain the details with your quote.

When do you start roasting?

Hours rather than minutes. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

What do people get?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Step by step

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin crisps into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. Late September evenings in Heathrow lose the light at about 7:05pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:55pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Give us a contact number for the day

Before you choose a spot

  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Planning for dietary needs

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Find out who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen information

You will not need to worry about the food on the day. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, then clear up.

Sides turn a roll into a proper meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a cold buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. A buffet can sit out all afternoon. The main driver is numbers: bigger groups normally cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.

Why us?

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Serving and clearing done for you

  • Menu choices and extras
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Season and day of the week
  • How many people are eating

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.
