Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before you book. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

The process

We work to your timings. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so tell us as soon as plans change. Around midsummer it stays light in Send until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Before we arrive

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Let us know about tight access
  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with food vans, a hog roast serves plenty of people from one roast. Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What you get with us

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Served at the time you choose
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

See our pricing or the cost guide.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

Let us know if the day runs late: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.

Ask for gluten-free rolls for anyone who needs them.
