A hog roast near Soho

Soho: your questions answered

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Soho?

Frequently, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

We’re gathering after a service at St Anne's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We pack everything away after service, so you’re not left with the mess.

Can we hire the hog roast machine for our party?

Yes, DIY machine hire is available. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works.

What if things run late?

We will be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll adjust.

Do you bring a gazebo?

We cover the cooking area, but plan somewhere dry for guests.

What about the neighbours?

Let them know in advance.

Do you bring plates?

We supply plates as standard. China is available at an extra cost.

Party hog roast near Soho

For a relaxed party, you can hire the machine and cook it yourself. Most people choose the catered option, and spend time with their guests. Popular choices include apple sauce, a vegan burger or sausage and hog roast rolls, and typical bookings are for summer parties in the garden and neighbourhood parties.

Throwing a party in Soho? A hog roast means no cooking for you, at home or a hall with a garden. A long roast means a word with the neighbours. Timings are planned around your party, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Should I cook it myself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

What we serve, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, turned until the skin is golden.

Stuffing and apple sauce

A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll, just as they should.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Hire the machine or book catering? DIY suits confident cooks and relaxed parties; catering suits bigger or more important parties. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Why book with us

  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Planned to your running order
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

Read our pricing or the cost guide.

Step by step

The roaster is gas-fired, so cooking does not depend on mains power. Sunset in Soho is about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so an early-evening carve is generally in daylight. Winter parties, dark by about 3:55pm, need lights by the roaster.

  1. It starts with the date, the address and a rough guest list.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours ahead and start the roast under cover.
  4. When it’s time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We clear up and pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Prices and what affects them

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Whether you want china
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Distance from us
  • Which meats and sides you choose

Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What we need to know

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Where the event is
  • An estimate of numbers
  • The date and time of the event

Every quote lists the menu, the serving time, staff and plates, so it’s easy to compare like for like. Send us your details through our quote form.

Space, access and the venue

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • Space for our vehicle near the drive
  • A wet-weather plan for guests
  • A side gate or passage wide enough to wheel the equipment

As a London location, Soho is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.
