About our party hog roast in Surrey Quays
Party food needs to be easy to eat, and pork rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling are just that. Chicken and vegetarian options keep everyone happy. We’re frequently asked to cater wedding anniversaries and christenings and naming days, with a vegan burger or sausage, hog roast rolls and coleslaw.
Throwing a party in Surrey Quays? A hog roast keeps you out of the kitchen, in a garden, a yard or a hired hall with outdoor space. A long roast means a word with the neighbours. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

Working with your venue
Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Common questions in Surrey Quays
We are gathering after a service at St Katharine with St Bartholomew: can you cater?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.
Can you do a hog roast in Deptford Park?
Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
What about kids?
Most children like pork in a soft roll, with chicken as an alternative.
When do you start roasting?
Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear the serving area, so you’re not left with the mess.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.
When should we book?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.
How much will it be?
Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your party for a quote.

What you get with us

How it works
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Sunset in Surrey Quays is about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so an early-evening carve is typically in daylight. After about 3:55pm in December, we need light to carve.
- Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
- You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.

Preparing for the day

DIY versus a catered hog roast
Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.
You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To help:
- Keep the vegetarian option labelled
- Count non-pork eaters for the alternatives
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
Warn the neighbours: roasting takes hours and the smell travels.
Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.

- Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
