Film set catering for your shoot in Surrey Quays
Chicken, lamb, halloumi skewers and a vegan option cover most crews, and we provide allergen information for every dish. For shoots on location and crew appreciation lunches, we can cook halloumi skewers, salads and spit-roast lamb and more.
In Surrey Quays, access to base can be tight, so send us the route and restrictions. The carving happens right in front of your crew, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

FAQs for Surrey Quays
Could you cook in Deptford Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first.
What’s the nearest station to Surrey Quays?
Surrey Quays station, in Surrey Quays itself.
What about locations off the beaten track?
Share the route to base and we will plan the journey.
How soon do you get booked up?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.
Do you do DIY hog roast hire?
Yes, for confident cooks. We’ll explain the details with your quote.
What if things run late?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.
What space does the roaster need?
A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A photo helps.
What happens in bad weather?
We roast under cover, so the food isn’t affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.
For planners, venues and organisers
Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
What comes off the roaster
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Everything goes into a soft roll, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.
Rotisserie chicken
Rotisserie chicken is a simple, popular alternative to pork, turned until the skin is golden.
Planning the cooking spot
The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:
- A level area at base
- A named contact at base
- Somewhere for crew to eat if it rains
Surrey Quays is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
On the menu in Surrey Quays
- New potatoes
- Vegan option (Ve)
- Stuffing and apple sauce
- Spit-roast lamb
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Salads

Diets, allergies and alternatives
Rolls and stuffing typically contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:
- Share the allergen list with the crew
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
- Label the alternatives clearly
- Tell us who does not eat pork
Give us one contact in production.
China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with a barbecue, one roast serves everyone together. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.
What you get with us
- Carved to order by a chef
- A choice of salads and potatoes
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
Take a look at how we price or the cost guide.
What happens on the day
The roaster is gas-fired, so cooking does not depend on mains power, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. Because the roast starts early, and in December Surrey Quays is dark by about 3:55pm.
- You send the location, date and lunch call.
- You get a check on access and a quote.
- We agree where we set up and when we arrive.
- We roast through the morning and carve fast when lunch is called.
- We pack up and leave the base tidy.
Preparing for the day
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
- Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
