Wedding hog roast for Buckingham

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: squeaky, salty cheese with colourful veg.

How our wedding hog roast works in Buckingham

Wedding timings shift, and a slow roast copes well: a cooked roast holds for a while, so the food copes with a delayed running order. We are frequently asked to cater garden weddings at home and late-night wedding food, with rotisserie chicken, new potatoes and salads.

A wedding in Buckingham might mean a church ceremony followed by a reception in a garden, marquee or hall. That’s ideal for a hog roast: we roast outdoors while the reception gets going. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Buckingham questions

How far is Buckingham from London?

About 51 miles from central London.

Can you cater after a service at St Peter and St Paul?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

What about coeliacs?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

Will there be enough to go round?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

How long does the roast need?

Hours rather than minutes. You will know our arrival time in advance.

Do you provide china?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Can you roast in the rain?

We roast under cover, so the food isn’t affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Do you do evening food?

Of course. We’ll agree a serving time around your running order.

How it works

Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. In Buckingham, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:10pm, which means an evening hog roast is normally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Preparing for the day

  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival

Planning help

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten

We’ll liaise with your venue coordinator, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.

Some couples add lights around the serving area; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Why choose a hog roast in Buckingham?

Next to a formal three-course meal, a hog roast is more relaxed and frequently better value. It still feels like a feast. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Why book with us

  • Our staff serve and clear
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Served at the time you choose
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

Catered or do it yourself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Space, access and the venue

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • Lighting for evening service

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
