What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

Our chef carves the pork as it’s needed, so it stays hot and juicy.

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, balancing the rich, salty pork.

Looking after everyone

Some guests won’t eat pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Note which guests do not eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed

You won’t have to think about the food. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.

Some couples add lights around the serving area; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

What the cooking area needs

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. Check these:

  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • Permission for outside catering
  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Working with your venue

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is normally easier.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and usually costs less per head. It still feels like a feast. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why book with us

  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • All the equipment comes with us
  • An itemised quote

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we don’t need mains power to cook, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. For a summer wedding in Clewer, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, which means an evening hog roast is typically served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
