Wedding hog roast in Dunbridge, slow-roasted on site

As a main meal, the hog roast is served on plates: carved pork with salads, new potatoes or roast potatoes, on china if you’d like. For farm weddings and home weddings, we will put together a menu of carved roast pork, spit-roast lamb and rotisserie chicken.

Near Dunbridge, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

For event organisers in Dunbridge

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with pizza or other evening vans, a hog roast serves a crowd quickly once carving starts. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What you get with us

  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it

What happens on the day

We work to your timings. If the day runs behind, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so tell us as soon as plans change. In Dunbridge, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:10pm, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 4:00pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Getting ready for the day

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Let us know about tight access

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Allergies and dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Put a dietary question on the invitation

If speeches overrun or the band starts late, we adjust. Your coordinator can keep us posted.

Some couples add lights around the serving area.
