Wedding hog roast for Finsbury

Wedding hog roast in Finsbury, carved to order

A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It feels like an occasion. We are often asked to cater post-wedding gatherings and rustic barn receptions, with crackling, halloumi skewers and salads.

Couples in Finsbury often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. We need an outdoor cooking area clear of the venue, which many London venues cannot offer, so ask early. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you are not left handing out rolls.

FAQs for Finsbury

Which station is closest to Finsbury?

Finsbury has its own station: Old Street station.

Can you do a hog roast in Artillery Ground?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Can you work around our timings?

We work back from when you want to eat, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

What space does the roaster need?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a picture if you are unsure.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

Check with the venue first: rules vary. We’ll sort the details with them.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. Serving inside is fine where allowed.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.

How much will it be?

Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

How it works

We arrive hours before you want to eat, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. For a summer wedding in Finsbury, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster

Planning help

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

Compared with a barbecue, one roast feeds all your guests together without batches coming off a grill. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why Finsbury hosts choose us

  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

Read our pricing or our hog roast cost guide.

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, with gluten-free rolls on request.

Stuffing and apple sauce

Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce make the roll, just as they should.

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster
  • Permission for outside catering
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches

As a London location, Finsbury is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.
