How we price a hog roast for your wedding

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Whether you want china
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • Rough numbers
  • Your menu choices
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. The hog roasts slowly at your venue through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue. For home weddings and the day after the wedding, we can cook spit-roast lamb, crackling and halloumi skewers.

Near Hindhead, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Timings are planned around your wedding, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you are organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

Full catering or machine hire?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What comes off the roaster

How it works

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. At midsummer, sunset in Hindhead is about 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

How to prepare

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Gather dietary requirements early
