Wedding hog roast for Normandy
Full catering or machine hire?
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.
Wedding hog roast near Normandy
Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. The hog roasts slowly at your venue through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue. We’re frequently asked to cater post-wedding gatherings and the main wedding meal, serving new potatoes, salads and spit-roast lamb.
Rural weddings around Normandy have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan firm ground and a route for our vehicle. Timings are planned around your wedding, working back from when you want to eat.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls
A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.
Normandy: your questions answered
Can you cater after a service at Church of St Mark?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.
Is Normandy close to London?
Roughly 30 miles from the centre of London.
Do we need extra food?
With sides, it is a full wedding breakfast; for evening food, rolls are usually enough.
What do people get?
Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
What happens after service?
We pack everything away after service, so you’re not left with the mess.
Can you work around our timings?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.
Do we need to provide electricity?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
What about coeliacs?
Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

Working with your venue
Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.
Where the roaster can go in Normandy
The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:
- Power for lights in the evening
- Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
- A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee
If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

How it works
Here’s how the day usually runs: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you’re ready. Golden-hour photos in Normandy at midsummer come around 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.
