About our wedding hog roast in North End
A hog roast gives your wedding a centrepiece: people gather round as the chef carves. It feels like an occasion. Typical bookings include evening food after the first dance and garden weddings at home, serving spit-roast lamb, halloumi skewers and new potatoes.
In North End, venues set rules on outside caterers and gas cooking. A courtyard, garden or yard is ideal, and we’ll agree the details with them. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

A closer look at the menu
Crackling
Crackling is what people queue for: crisp, golden and full of flavour, straight off the hog.
Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.
Planning for dietary needs
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:
- Request gluten-free rolls if needed
- Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
- Confirm final numbers a week or so before
- Stuffing normally contains gluten
On your wedding day, the food should look after itself. We roast through the afternoon and carve at the agreed time.
Add spit-roast lamb for a second roast.

FAQs for North End
Can you cater after a service at Church of St Alban the Martyr?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Send us the address.
Can you do a hog roast in Childs Hill Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first.
When do you start roasting?
It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. You will know our arrival time in advance.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will adjust.
What’s included?
The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.
What happens in bad weather?
We cook under a gazebo, so rain is not a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.
Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?
Outside, always. Serving indoors is typically fine if the venue is happy.
What if our venue has its own caterer?
Many do, but some only allow approved caterers or charge a fee. Check with them first, and we’ll liaise with them.
Step by step
We arrive hours before you want to eat, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. The smell usually brings people over long before we carve. For a summer wedding in North End, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, which means an evening hog roast is generally served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.
