Slow-roasted pork in Osidge

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

On your wedding day, the food should look after itself. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.

Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in evening photos; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

Wedding hog roast near Osidge

The carving station becomes a focal point: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It feels like an occasion. Typical bookings include garden weddings at home and anniversary vow renewals, with spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken and carved roast pork.

London weddings around Osidge often mean a reception at a hired venue, a pub with a garden or a family home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, so check with the venue early. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we will tell you exactly what’s in each dish.

FAQs for Osidge

What’s the nearest station to Osidge?

The closest is Oakleigh Park station, roughly 1 mile away.

Could you cook in Oak Hill Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first.

How much will it be?

Every booking is quoted individually, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Do venues allow outside hog roasts?

Check with the venue first: some welcome outside caterers, others do not. We will talk to them about the cooking spot.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Of course. We’ll agree a serving time around your running order.

Can you cater in Osidge?

Yes, Osidge is in our area. Send us the address and we will check the date.

Can we have both pork and lamb?

Of course: lamb and pork together give guests a choice.

Is crockery included?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

If your venue has an in-house caterer, check whether you can bring in a hog roast. Some venues charge a fee. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head typically falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why Osidge hosts choose us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Our staff serve and clear

Catered or do it yourself?

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, because every wedding is different. The main factors are:

  • Plates or china
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Travel to Osidge

When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Details that help

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo

The process

The roaster is gas-fired, so we do not need mains power to cook. Golden-hour photos in Osidge at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.
