About our wedding hog roast in The Village
Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. We serve halloumi skewers, crackling and carved roast pork, and typical bookings are for farm weddings and weddings in a family garden.
A wedding in a small place like The Village frequently means a field, a barn or a family garden. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding
Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:
- Menu choices and extras
- Access to the cooking area
- How long the roast and service take
- Crockery choices
Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.
Getting an accurate quote
These are the details we need:
- Anything the venue has asked for
- The date and time of the event
- Which meats and sides you’d like
- Allergies we should know about
Every wedding is quoted on its own, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your wedding: send us your details through our quote form.

Planning for dietary needs
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:
- Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list
- Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
- Put a dietary question on the invitation
- Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
Evening food generally goes out an hour or two after the first dance, timed with you in advance.
Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.
Organising for someone else?
Planning on behalf of a committee? A single point of contact keeps things simple, especially on the day.
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.
Is a hog roast right for your wedding?
Next to a wedding barbecue, one roast feeds all your guests together. Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.
Why The Village hosts choose us
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
- No surprises: everything in writing
- Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
- Fresh carving at the serving station

The Village questions
Do you come out to small places like The Village?
No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Is The Village close to London?
Roughly 24 miles from the centre of London.
How long does the roast need?
It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. We will confirm our arrival time when we quote.
How soon do you get booked up?
Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we will check.
Where will the roaster go at our wedding?
Always outside, away from the marquee walls. Serving inside is fine where allowed.
Can we add a second roast?
Yes, spit-roast lamb can go alongside the pork.
Can we just hire the roaster?
Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We will confirm what comes with it and how to use it.
Can you work around our timings?
We’ll be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll fit around changes.
Step by step
Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. It’s worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. Evening food at a The Village wedding frequently goes out just as the light fades: sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September. A few lights by the serving table help guests and photos alike.
- We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
- You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
- Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
- We cook through the day and serve right on cue.
- Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.
Before we arrive
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
- Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
